Kid's Rock 2009 Shirt

For the last 4 weeks, DeVion and I have been training for the upcoming Kids Rock Marathon that will be taking place in January. He is pretty excited about it and I am excited that he is looking forward to it. I think that it is important to teach children the benefits of helping others, and I have tried to show him this through my own example with the Because I Care Foundation...but seeing that he is looking forward to it as well because he just wants to do something nice for others is a great feeling for me.

We only paid $25 to have him participate in the marathon. The proceeds go to Phoenix Children's Hospital (DeVion's home away from home for most of his life) to help other kids like him who have to stay at the hospital from time to time.

So, we have been doing a lot of walking and getting him pumped for it...its only one mile on race day but that can still be a lot for a child. I am hoping that some of his classmates may participate but we will have to wait and see.
